Singtel and Ericsson have agreed to work together for five years to expand advanced 5G services in Singapore and develop networks that make greater use of AI. The companies said the partnership would support more automated operations and connectivity for businesses and consumers.

The agreement extends a collaboration announced in March 2026. It sets out plans to expand 5G Advanced capabilities and support applications such as autonomous systems, while developing networks better able to anticipate demand and adjust performance.

The companies said a trial using AI in a live radio access network delivered a 19% improvement in throughput. They have also introduced technology enabling peak uplink speeds reaching 250Mbps on compatible newer devices, supporting uses including remote monitoring and video analytics.

For enterprise customers, Singtel plans to broaden network slicing and programmable connectivity for autonomous vehicles, robotics, manufacturing and logistics. The partners will investigate possible deployments at Changi Airport Terminal 5, Bulim Square and future JTC developments. Potential uses include automated inspections and remote monitoring.

Consumer work will build on Singtel's 5G+ services, with improvements to responsiveness and uplink performance. The companies will also examine options for customers to obtain higher network performance on demand.

The partners plan to explore gradually incorporating AI into network management to forecast traffic, allocate resources and detect performance problems earlier. Singtel said increased automation across its radio and core networks would aim to improve efficiency, manage energy use and maintain service quality.
