LG CNS plans project-based AI skills transfer in Indonesia
The company would bring specialists from South Korea if it wins AI projects, while its president says infrastructure gaps remain.

South Korean technology company LG CNS wants to develop Indonesian AI expertise by pairing local workers with specialists from its headquarters during projects, president Mansik Won said. The approach depends on the company securing AI work in Indonesia.
Speaking to Gizmologi in Jakarta, Won said LG CNS planned to bring in experts from South Korea if it obtained AI projects, with technology transfer taking place during implementation. If needed, that approach could also include government AI developers and personnel from other institutions.
Won said public institutions he had met wanted to use AI to improve their work and services, but some lacked systems ready to adopt it. He also identified data availability as important and said some ministries and government agencies had difficulty obtaining the infrastructure needed to run AI.
He described Indonesia's supply of GPUs and data centres as insufficient, arguing that skills development needed to proceed alongside improvements in system readiness. In a July 2026 statement, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs identified energy, data centres, chips, computing and talent as areas requiring strengthening for Indonesia to play a larger role in AI.
Won said one colleague at LG CNS Indonesia had already received AI training from headquarters. Over a three-year business horizon, he aims for the Indonesian operation to lead cooperation between South Korea and Indonesia in electronic government and AI.
