VinFast aims to begin testing a fleet of 200 taxis with Level 4 autonomous driving capabilities by late 2027. The planned location is Vinhomes Green Paradise, an urban development in Can Gio, Ho Chi Minh City, but testing cannot proceed without approval from the relevant authorities.

The project follows a partnership that VinFast announced on June 1, 2026 with NVIDIA and Autobrains to develop autonomous taxis at Level 4 for markets in Southeast Asia. The proposed system combines the NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion 10 computing platform with Autobrains’ Agentic AI software.

Under that plan, NVIDIA will supply hardware and software to process data, while Autobrains will provide the AI technology. Its specialised agents will be activated to match the requirements of particular driving tasks.

The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) International defines Level 4 as allowing driverless operation within designated conditions. A system must be able to reach a safe state when a situation goes beyond its capabilities. VinFast’s planned taxis would therefore have controlled operating areas and conditions, rather than necessarily being able to handle every road, traffic situation or weather condition.
