President Prabowo Subianto launched a Rp180 trillion downstreaming programme in Central Halmahera, North Maluku, encompassing Indonesia’s first electric vehicle battery export shipment and 11 industrial projects. The ceremony took place at the Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP).

Four projects entered commercialisation at the event, involving Blue Sparking Energy, REPT Battero Indonesia, Pioneer Aluminium Industries and XCMG Indonesia Manufacturing.

Groundbreaking ceremonies were also held for seven projects involving Guangqing Nickel Cobalt, Eno Prima Material, Tinci Materials Indonesia, Weda Bay Aluminium, Bintang Karya Aluminium, Flat Solar Energy Indonesia and Guangqing Motor Indonesia.

Prabowo said the battery shipment demonstrated progress under Indonesia’s policy of downstreaming its natural resources. He said the government would continue advancing that policy.

The president also attributed the shipment and industrial projects to decisions taken by earlier administrations, crediting his predecessors for their contributions. He described national development as a long-term undertaking and stressed the need to learn from earlier efforts and build on past achievements.
