Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has designated the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to oversee online motorcycle taxi services under Presidential Regulation No. 27/2026. Its principal responsibility is supervising partnership agreements involving drivers, app operators and merchants.

The ministry will serve as the government body responsible for driver partners, service providers and other stakeholders. Speaking at parliament on 8 October 2026, MSME Minister Maman Abdurrahman said oversight of those agreements would be important in working out the details of the presidential regulation.

Tariff-setting responsibilities are divided between two other ministries. The Ministry of Transportation is tasked with formulating and setting fares for passenger transport, while the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs will determine rates for goods and food deliveries.

Deputy House Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said the three ministries would establish a forum to manage Indonesia’s app-based motorcycle taxi services. He said it would coordinate ministerial rules and other implementing measures under the presidential regulation.
