Grab proposes Vietnam fee cuts and ₫3.9 billion in driver refunds
Combined platform and app usage charges would be capped at 32 per cent, with taxes and third-party collections excluded.

Grab has proposed changes to its Vietnam pricing policies after regulators examined driver complaints, including lower charges and approximately ₫3.9 billion in refunds. Vietnam’s National Competition Commission, part of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, announced the proposals.
For short journeys using GrabBike or GrabCar, platform fees will decrease by ₫1,000–2,000 per trip. App usage charges will have a maximum rate of 25 per cent, down from 28.76 per cent for GrabBike and 28.28 per cent for GrabCar.
The proposed combined fee ceiling of 32 per cent compares with earlier deductions reaching 40.6 per cent for GrabBike and 39.81 per cent for GrabCar. Taxes and amounts collected for third parties fall outside that ceiling.
The commission said GrabBike drivers would keep a minimum of 60.59 per cent of passenger payments after taxes and fees, while GrabCar drivers would retain at least 59.68 per cent. The previous minimum was around 52 per cent.
Grab’s review identified revenue-sharing deductions above 35 per cent on around 0.13 per cent of journeys since 2024. The company blamed fluctuations in supply and demand or algorithmic errors for charges exceeding its configured limits.
Refunds for active drivers will be credited automatically to their digital wallets. Those who have permanently stopped using the platform will receive requests by text message or email to supply bank details by November 30.
Starting November 10, drivers will receive more detailed trip statements in the Grab Driver app, covering earnings, deductions and net pay. The commission said it would track implementation, require progress reports and consider enforcement should it find violations.
