Transport Ministry tackles rail crowding after PM orders action
Anthony Loke says Rapid KL is addressing technical problems, while additional ETS trips have been scheduled before Deepavali.

Malaysia’s Transport Ministry is taking steps to reduce crowding on trains and address operators’ technical difficulties following an instruction from Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said.
Speaking in Petaling Jaya on November 4, Loke said Rapid KL was working through technical problems and promised they would be resolved to improve services.
Anwar ordered prompt action on October 30 after a Threads user complained to him about crowded stations. The prime minister expressed concern about the impact on the public’s daily routines.
Loke also said train frequencies had increased for the festive season to encourage people to travel to their hometowns using public transport. He reported an encouraging response to Electric Train Service (ETS) trips between Kuala Lumpur and west coast states, including Kedah and Johor.
Extra ETS trips were scheduled before Deepavali, he said. Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) was also working to raise service frequencies so that more passengers could make their journeys home by rail.
Loke was addressing reporters at a ministry gathering with Tamil media practitioners held in conjunction with Deepavali.
