China's Horwin International Inc and Ni Hsin EV Tech Sdn Bhd (NHEVT) have signed a deal covering the manufacture and exclusive distribution of electric motorcycles in Malaysia and Turkey, Ni Hsin Group Bhd said.

NHEVT, a wholly-owned Ni Hsin subsidiary, will assemble the SK3 and SK3 Plus models in Seri Kembangan, Selangor. Horwin will supply the chassis in completely knocked-down form, while locally sourced components will account for 50 per cent, according to the group.

Ni Hsin said the completed motorcycles would be designated Malaysian-made, qualifying them for export to Turkey under the Malaysia-Turkey Free Trade Agreement.

Managing director Khoo Chee Kong said the partnership would widen NHEVT's product portfolio and contribute to greener transportation. He described it as a milestone in the company's efforts to become a key player in electric motorcycles.

The signing took place in Milan, Italy, during the EIMCA Global EV trade show.
