GAC opens Thai plant for self-developed EV battery packs
The Chonburi factory will supply locally built Aion Y Plus vehicles, with initial annual capacity planned at 7,000 packs.

Guangzhou Automobile Group announced on November 3 that its first overseas factory making self-developed battery packs had entered production in Thailand. Operations at the Chonburi province site began on October 29, the automaker said.
GAC’s battery unit INPOW operates the facility, which will make packs for Aion Y Plus electric vehicles produced in Thailand. The company said the factory would work alongside its existing Thai vehicle manufacturing operations, bringing both assembly and core battery component production into its local supply chain.
The company puts planned capacity for the initial phase at 7,000 packs annually. A further phase could take yearly output capacity to 20,000 packs.
GAC said it expected the project to cut delivery times and make its supply chain in Thailand more secure. It also said the factory would support its efforts to expand across Southeast Asia.
