CDG Zig and Kumpool to offer Singapore-Malaysia cross-border taxi rides
From Nov 16, each country will raise its quota to 500 licensed cross-border taxis, up from 300.

ComfortDelGro’s Zig platform and Malaysia’s Kumpool have received licences to provide taxi journeys between Singapore and Malaysia from Nov 16. The two transport ministries announced the approvals on Nov 6, with the platforms set to join existing operator GrabCar under the enhanced Cross-Border Taxi Scheme.
The ministries also said each country’s taxi quota would rise from 300 to 500 on Nov 16. The expansion meets a target announced on Dec 5, 2025. The previous increase, from 200 to 300 per country, took effect on May 4, 2026, when the enhanced scheme began.
The scheme provides designated collection points for app bookings and greater flexibility over destinations, alongside requirements intended to help enforce restrictions on illegal domestic trips. The ministries said passengers had welcomed the ability to be dropped off anywhere in Singapore and within approved areas covering Johor Bahru, Iskandar Puteri, Forest City, Kulai and Senai.
Collection rules remain different for vehicles registered in the two countries. Singapore-registered taxis using Grab may collect passengers anywhere in Singapore, but their Johor pick-ups are limited to Larkin Sentral Terminal, Toppen Shopping Centre, Angsana Johor Bahru Mall and The Mall, Mid Valley Southkey. Malaysian-registered taxis under the scheme may collect passengers within the approved Johor areas and take them to any Singapore destination.
Licensed vehicles must display rooftop signs, cross-border identification decals and designated licence plate prefixes. Taxis registered in Malaysia must also have Singapore’s Electronic Road Pricing 2.0 on-board unit installed before entering Singapore.
