Vietnam-built Yamaha electric scooters make European debut
Yamaha says the NMAX E and XENTER E could also be launched in Vietnam, where both models are manufactured.

Yamaha's NMAX E and XENTER E electric scooters have entered the European market, with a possible launch in Vietnam, the company said. Manufactured in Vietnam, the models form part of Yamaha's plans to broaden its electric vehicle range for everyday city travel.
Both use an eAxle electric drive and a battery rated at 3.5 kWh. Yamaha gives the NMAX E a range of 104 kilometres under the World Motorcycle Test Cycle standard, while the XENTER E is rated at 108 kilometres under the same standard.
Drawing its styling from the petrol-powered NMAX family, the NMAX E is aimed at the global market. It has a fixed lithium-ion battery and a new backbone frame. Placing the motor and battery close to the frame's centre is intended to improve weight distribution and reduce the centre of gravity.
The XENTER E takes a different approach, using an underbone frame with front and rear wheels measuring 16 inches. Yamaha says that layout is intended to offer stability and comfort on uneven surfaces. Public chargers intended for electric cars can serve either scooter; the NMAX E also has an integrated charger compatible with household sockets.
Equipment on both models includes S, T and E riding modes, a TFT display measuring 5 inches and a reverse function. Yamaha Motor On connectivity provides navigation and information on location, distance travelled and battery charge. Both also have a spacious footboard and space beneath the seat for a full-face helmet, subject to its size.
