A RM100 million fund launched by Borneo Digital Capital Fund PLT will invest in Sarawak’s digital development, including infrastructure and smart-city projects. Aureus Strategies PE Sdn Bhd, a licensed private equity firm, will oversee its management.

The investment scope includes artificial intelligence and platforms that enable digital technology in utility systems, eMobility and renewable energy. The fund says its digital enablement platform aims to help eligible technology businesses and project owners finance deployments through subscriptions, revenue-sharing arrangements and service contracts.

Its strategy seeks investments offering resilient cash flows and potential capital appreciation over the long term. According to the fund, all projects it targets have contractual cash flows backed by Sarawak’s government.

At the launch, Borneo Digital Capital signed a memorandum of understanding with Borneo Development Capital I PLT. The parties will explore jointly financing eligible turnkey projects covering design and construction.

General partner Melvin Ong said combining financing with technology expertise could help viable projects proceed when customers cannot cover the full initial cost. The fund uses a closed-end private equity structure, with participation intended for sophisticated investors committing at least RM250,000.
