Indonesia’s PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk (PGN) said its gas subholding operations reduced emissions by 29,574.87 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent through August 2026. The company reported the figure in a written statement dated 16 October 2026.

PGN, Pertamina’s gas subholding, said cumulative reductions from 2025 to August 2026 exceeded 68,500 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent. That represented about 15.7 per cent of its cumulative decarbonisation target through 2034.

The initiatives include making operational facilities more energy-efficient, cutting gas losses and increasing the use of lower-emission energy. PGN’s director of strategy and business development, Mirza Mahendra, said the programme was intended to improve operating efficiency and competitiveness while addressing climate and regulatory risks.

PGN held a workshop in Jakarta on 7 October 2026 with representatives of its gas subholding companies to develop coordinated emissions-reduction plans for 2027-2030. The plans are being prepared in line with the company’s long-term business plan for that period and its 2025-2034 environmental, social and governance roadmap.

The company said the proposed programmes would be finalised before being submitted to management. It also said its decarbonisation efforts were intended to support Indonesia’s goal of net-zero emissions by 2060 or sooner.
