Future of Finance Institute opens with three AI programmes
Alan Lim has been appointed interim chief executive, while the institute plans to extend its work to tokenisation over time.

Singapore’s Future of Finance Institute (FFI) is now operational, with three programmes aimed at helping the financial sector use AI and manage its risks, according to the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). The institute was first announced in June 2026.
MAS appointed Alan Lim as interim Chief Executive Officer to direct the institute’s strategy and operations. He will retain his MAS role as Head, Financial Infrastructure and AI Office.
The PathFin.ai programme will establish a Knowledge Hub where financial institutions can assess AI options and find solutions suited to their requirements. Communities of Practice will bring together professionals in banking, insurance, payments, capital markets and financial advisory to exchange experience through webinars, industry discussions and learning journeys.
BuildFin.ai will link researchers and technology businesses with financial institutions to create deployment guidance, shared tools and industry standards. Its work will cover agentic AI and draw on the Safeguards for Agentic Finance at Runtime (SAFR) framework developed jointly by MAS and industry partners.
Through SafeFin.ai, financial institutions will collaborate on resources for applying MAS’ Guidelines on AI Risk Management. The programme will also expand the MindForge AI Risk Management Toolkit’s coverage of use-case risk assessments, testing, assurance and risks associated with third-party AI.
MAS Managing Director Chia Der Jiun said FFI would pool public- and private-sector expertise to support innovation and safe technology adoption. The institute intends to broaden its activities beyond AI, with tokenisation among the areas planned.
