Port of Tanjung Pelepas signs up for 16GWh of green electricity monthly
The port and TNB say the subscription will enable a transition to 100 per cent renewable electricity under Malaysia's Green Electricity Tariff programme.

Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) has subscribed to 16,000 Green Electricity Tariff (GET) blocks through a partnership with Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB). The companies said the subscription covers 16GWh of certified renewable electricity each month from May 2026 to December 2027.
In a joint statement, the companies described PTP as the Malaysian port with the largest GET subscription to date. They said the agreement would allow the port, which belongs to MMC Group, to move to an electricity supply that is 100 per cent renewable.
GET customers pay the normal base electricity tariff together with a tiered green premium. They receive Malaysia Renewable Energy Certificates (mREC) annually, with PTP's certificates corresponding to its green electricity subscription.
PTP aims to cut carbon emissions by 45 per cent by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050. Chief executive officer Mark Hardiman said adopting GET would accelerate the port's renewable energy transition and support its 2030 emissions target.
TNB president and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Shamsul Ahmad said the company remained committed to widening business access to renewable energy solutions as part of Malaysia's energy transition.
