Meta launched its Muse artificial intelligence personal agent in Singapore on Oct 28, offering consumers help with tasks including restaurant reservations, travel bookings and online price comparisons. Users can access it through a web app or download it from Apple’s App Store and Google Play Store.

The Singapore launch follows Muse’s introduction in the United States and Canada on Sep 8 and Japan on Oct 23. Meta offers free use subject to a weekly allowance, which it says covers most users’ needs. Subscription plans costing between S$22 and S$139 provide additional tokens or credits for more complex tasks.

Users must authorise access to online accounts, including Gmail, Instagram and Calendar, for Muse to carry out tasks or provide appointment reminders. Connections will become available progressively for services including Shopee, Lazada, Grab, Shopback, Singapore Airlines, Agoda, Klook and Trip.com.

Meta said Muse would seek users’ approval before purchases or emails. Users can also restrict permissions to read-only access, preventing the agent from sending messages, changing files or buying items. The company said passwords and payment methods were not visible to Muse.

Testing by The Straits Times found that Muse could monitor weather forecasts and flag travel requirements using calendar information. However, it failed to cancel a restaurant booking after attempting to access a non-existent Chope account, and recommended a restaurant that had closed. Meta warns during registration that Muse can make mistakes and asks users to check its work.
