Danantara plans waste-to-energy tenders for 15 to 16 projects
Eight projects are scheduled for groundbreakings in the first quarter of 2027, while three first-phase facilities are already under construction.

Danantara, Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund, is aiming to tender 15 to 16 waste-to-energy projects before 2026 ends, with initial groundbreakings targeted for early 2027, according to Chief Investment Officer Pandu Sjahrir.
At the Danantara Technology Innovation Investment Forum 2026, Sjahrir announced plans to invite bids for another four projects around Jakarta and Tangerang. He said eight projects were scheduled to reach the groundbreaking stage during the first quarter of 2027.
Partners for eight locations in the programme’s second phase were issued conditional award letters in July. The final feasibility studies are expected to be ready by mid-November 2026.
Work is already progressing on three facilities from the first phase, located in Greater Denpasar, Bekasi and Greater Bogor. In Bali, foundation work is under way for a Rp3 trillion facility capable of handling 1,500 tons of waste daily.
Sjahrir said broader deployment of waste-to-energy infrastructure would address growing pressure on urban landfills and create economic opportunities in the regions through clean energy technology.
