Ho Chi Minh City authorities have started consulting residents and measuring properties for two proposed metro routes connecting the city with the former Binh Duong Province. Ward officials told Tuoi Tre that teams were documenting land and associated assets ahead of planned construction.

The priority projects are Binh Duong Metro Line 1, linking Binh Duong New City and Suoi Tien, and Binh Duong Metro Line 2, connecting Thu Dau Mot with Ho Chi Minh City. Construction is scheduled for late 2026, with completion before 2030. Geological drilling and legal procedures are also part of the preparations.

Property visits in Binh Hoa Ward began on October 6 and are due to continue until November 15. Elsewhere, wards are organising meetings to explain the plans. Officials in Binh Duong Ward, where the routes will meet, reported strong resident support for surveys and preparations for land clearance.

Line 1 is planned to cover about 31.6 kilometres, running between Binh Duong New City and Suoi Tien in Dong Hoa Ward.

The planned 33.2-kilometre Line 2 will serve Thu Dau Mot and central Ho Chi Minh City. Its underground section will measure 17.8 kilometres, with the remainder elevated. The route will link Line 1’s S5 station with Tao Dan station on Ho Chi Minh City’s Metro Line 2 (Ben Thanh-Tham Luong).
