Thailand launches THIM app for immigration and travel services
Foreign nationals can submit digital arrival cards through the app, while visa extensions and other immigration functions are planned.

Thailand’s Immigration Bureau has launched THIM, a mobile application that gives foreign nationals access to digital arrival cards and travel-related services. The bureau said the platform is intended to simplify immigration procedures while maintaining security and improving the accuracy of data.
Available since 1 August 2026 through Apple’s App Store, Google Play Store and Huawei AppGallery, THIM has attracted more than 600,000 downloads and over 580,000 users, according to the bureau.
Users can complete and submit the Thailand Digital Arrival Card through THIM. The existing website option remains available. The bureau plans to add appointment booking, certificates of stay, visa extensions, 90-day reporting and visa-on-arrival services at authorised immigration checkpoints.
Immigration Bureau Commissioner Pol. Lt. Gen. Panumas Boonyalug said airports and border checkpoints had physical capacity limits as Thailand attracted large numbers of foreign visitors. He said digital services were intended to make procedures more efficient without compromising the bureau’s national security duties.
The bureau said THIM reads passport information using Near Field Communication and verifies identities through liveness detection and face comparison. Its safeguards include encryption, restricted access, activity logs and storing biometric records separately from other personal data. The platform uses Amazon Web Services cloud infrastructure in the AWS Asia Pacific (Bangkok) Region.
THIM’s Explore Thailand feature also carries partner offers and coupons, redeemable with QR or promotion codes under each partner’s conditions. The bureau said it could later add details about attractions, accommodation and activities.
