Vietnam’s VinSpeed, part of Vingroup, has signed a turnkey agreement with Siemens Mobility worth up to €1 billion for two high-speed railway projects, Siemens said. The routes will connect Hanoi with Quang Ninh and Ben Thanh with Can Gio.

The companies have divided the work between infrastructure development and rail technology. VinSpeed will develop the projects, build the tracks and undertake civil works, while Siemens Mobility will supply rail systems and technical expertise. The contract follows their Comprehensive Strategic Cooperation and Technology Transfer Agreement signed in December 2025.

Siemens Mobility’s deliveries will take place in phases and include 10 Velaro Novo trains, communications equipment and electrification systems. The Hanoi-Quang Ninh route will extend 121 km and have four stations; the Ben Thanh-Can Gio route will cover 54 km with two stations.

According to Siemens, the trains can reach speeds of up to 350 km/h. Each train set measures 200 metres, has seven cars and accommodates 760 seated passengers. Siemens Mobility CEO Michael Peter said the model uses 30% less energy than earlier models and provides more than 10% additional passenger capacity.

The trains will also combine Automatic Train Operation with European Train Control System Level 2 signalling. Siemens said the technology would automatically manage train spacing and control speed, acceleration and braking.
