Vinhomes-SGC consortium signs nearly ₫900 trillion Hanoi metro contract
The agreement covers five railway lines, with the consortium aiming to bring them into service before December 31, 2030.

A consortium of Vinhomes JSC and SGC Investment and Construction JSC has signed a turnkey agreement with Hanoi's Urban Railway Management Board to develop five metro lines. The contract is valued at nearly ₫900 trillion, excluding costs for land clearance.
The projects cover lines No. 1, 2, 8, 10 and 14. The consortium's responsibilities span design and procurement through construction, installation and handover. Vinhomes is a subsidiary of Vingroup.
Vinhomes chairman Pham Thieu Hoa said the consortium aimed to start services before December 31, 2030, coordinating with the city and committing resources throughout implementation. Hanoi People's Committee Chairman Vu Dai Thang said the lines would help ease congestion and support urban development around public transport.
Equipment already ordered by the consortium includes more than 100 tunnel-boring machine equipment lines and over 50 equipment lines for diaphragm-wall construction. Thousands of vehicles will also be deployed to carry excavated material. The consortium is working on detailed designs with consultants from Europe, Japan, South Korea and China, while partnering with international tunnelling contractors.
Under an earlier agreement, Alstom is to supply Vinhomes with 200 Metropolis trainsets for the five routes, each consisting of five carriages. Destinations served by the planned network include Noi Bai International Airport, Times City, Co Loa and Ocean City.
