Survey work begins for Vietnam offshore wind projects totalling 1.8 GW
Pacifico Energy’s two planned projects off Ho Chi Minh City and Lam Dong province could attract more than US$6 billion in later development phases.

Pacifico Energy Vietnam and Vietnam Petroleum Technical Services Corporation (PTSC) have begun surveys for two Vietnamese offshore wind projects with a combined planned capacity of 1.8 GW. PTSC’s Marine GS branch is carrying out the initial survey package.
The Southern offshore wind project is planned at 500 MW in waters off Ho Chi Minh City. South Central offshore wind project No. 3 would have 1,300 MW of capacity off Lam Dong province. Investment in subsequent development phases could exceed US$6 billion.
Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Environment approved Pacifico Energy’s use of designated marine areas for the surveys in 2026. The launch ceremony took place at PTSC Marine GS headquarters in Ho Chi Minh City’s Rach Dua ward.
Initial work will cover geophysical and meteorological-oceanographic surveys, gathering information about the seabed, geology and natural conditions. The findings will support technical evaluations, engineering work and development planning.
Pacifico Energy Vietnam executive chairman Pham Quoc Anh said the survey launch demonstrated the group’s long-term commitment to Vietnam. He said offshore wind could supply clean electricity at scale, generate jobs and create opportunities for Vietnamese businesses.
Pacifico Energy Vietnam belongs to the US-based Pacifico Energy Group. PTSC is a subsidiary of state-owned Petrovietnam.
