Long Thanh Airport targets December 24 opening with gradual rollout
Initial airline operations are expected to amount to around 20–30 flights per day, with full designed capacity planned from October 2027.

Commercial operations at Long Thanh Airport are planned for December 24, 2026, with activity increasing gradually, according to the Airports Corporation of Viet Nam (ACV). The corporation reported that basic scheduling requirements had been met by 12 of the development’s 16 construction packages.
The opening stage, covering December 2026 to March 2027, will use the passenger terminal’s central area and western wing. Viet Nam Airlines and Vietjet are expected to register operations at 6–10% of designed capacity, amounting to around 20–30 daily flights. Services will concentrate on domestic and short-haul international routes, with traffic expected to peak at 366 flights per week.
Cargo operations will also be introduced in stages. A portion of Cargo Terminal 1 will handle domestic freight from December 24, 2026, while that terminal will start handling international flights from January 2027.
For April to October 2027, the plan anticipates passenger traffic reaching 50% of designed capacity as the two airlines introduce additional international routes and some domestic services. From October 2027, the winter flight schedule will underpin the planned move to 100% capacity, covering the full domestic and international network and cargo services.
The development occupies approximately 5,000 hectares in Long Thanh Ward, Dong Nai City, and carries an investment of approximately US$16 billion. Its three construction phases aim to deliver annual capacity for 100 million passengers and 5 million tonnes of cargo.
The first construction phase has an investment of approximately US$5.45 billion and comprises two runways, a passenger terminal and supporting facilities. The airport project comprises four component projects alongside connecting transport infrastructure.
