Malaysia and Singapore said on October 2 that passenger operations on the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link are expected to start in February 2027 rather than January. The revised schedule remains conditional on safety certification and regulatory clearance.

Singapore’s Land Transport Authority and Malaysia’s Ministry of Transport said in a joint statement that operator RTS Operations Pte Ltd (RTSO) had notified them of the change. They said additional time was required to finish the activities needed before services could begin.

RTSO expects its final system testing and trial runs to finish by December 31, 2026. An independent safety assessor must then certify the system. Authorities in Malaysia and Singapore will review that certification and must be satisfied before authorising passenger operations.

The two agencies said infrastructure construction on both sides was substantially complete, with the remaining testing and commissioning still to be completed satisfactorily. They said they would continue working with RTSO on the project’s delivery.
