Ho Chi Minh City to change traffic routes for Metro Line 2 works
A section of Cach Mang Thang Tam Street will become one-way from October 10, while further restrictions are planned around Ben Thanh Station.

Ho Chi Minh City will limit traffic on Cach Mang Thang Tam Street and surrounding roads for work on Metro Line 2’s ST7-Bay Hien and ST2-Tao Dan stations. The stations are on the 11.3-kilometre route between Ben Thanh in the centre and Tham Luong in the northwest.
From October 10, all vehicles on Cach Mang Thang Tam near Tao Dan Station in Ben Thanh Ward must travel one-way from Nguyen Du towards Nguyen Thi Minh Khai. Nguyen Thi Minh Khai will also carry one-way traffic between Cong Quynh and Huyen Tran Cong Chua. Two-way access will continue on Suong Nguyet Anh and Bui Thi Xuan.
Near Bay Hien Station in Tan Son Nhat Ward, traffic approaching from Truong Chinh must turn right onto Ly Thuong Kiet or left onto Hoang Van Thu, rather than continue straight across Cach Mang Thang Tam. Vehicles coming from Cach Mang Thang Tam must turn right onto Hoang Van Thu.
Separate restrictions have applied since August 13, barring cars from travelling on Cach Mang Thang Tam from Ly Thuong Kiet towards 3/2 Street for work at three stations. Buses can still use that section in either direction.
Around Ben Thanh Station, contractors are expected to fence off sections of Pham Hong Thai and Ham Nghi for underground connections in the second half of October. Main roads will stay open. The Department of Construction initially plans a 90-day fencing permit, although the barriers could remain until 2029.
At an October 2 briefing, Phan Cong Bang, head of the Ho Chi Minh City Management Authority for Urban Railways, said the city plans to prioritise eight metro projects during 2026-30. The Ben Thanh-Tham Luong line, which broke ground on January 15, is scheduled to enter service in late 2030.
