Xuan Thien wins approval for ₫21.14 trillion solar project in Dak Lak
The planned complex will combine 1,000 MW of solar generation with battery storage offering 200 megawatt-hours of capacity.

A decision by Dak Lak’s provincial People’s Committee has cleared Xuan Thien Group’s proposed Ia Rve solar development in central Vietnam. The approved project carries an investment of ₫21.14 trillion (US$816 million) and a generating capacity of 1,000 MW.
The development’s planned footprint spans 1,338 hectares in the communes of Ia Rve and Ia Lop. Capacity will be split between four plants: 300 MW apiece at Ia Rve 1, Ia Rve 2 and Ia Rve 3, plus 100 MW at the fourth.
Under the financing plan, five approved investors belonging to Xuan Thien’s business ecosystem will supply approximately ₫6.41 trillion (US$247.45 million), or 30.33 per cent of the investment. Funding from other sources is planned at ₫14.73 trillion (US$568.51 million).
A battery system rated at 100 MW will provide 200 megawatt-hours of storage, keeping some daytime production available for later consumption or grid delivery. The project also requires transmission links, substations operating at 110 kilovolts and expansion work at the Xuan Thien-Ea Sup 500-kV substation. Vietnam Electricity (EVN) will purchase the complex’s entire electricity output through the national grid.
The schedule allows 18 months for construction and commissioning once the applicable decision covering land allocation, leasing or conversion becomes effective. Work cannot begin until the investors complete procedures for land, construction, environmental protection, forestry and electricity.
The group’s existing Xuan Thien Ea Sup development entered operation in December 2020. Its five solar plants have a combined 600 MW capacity, with investment totalling ₫15.4 trillion (US$594.49 million).
