CelcomDigi pays RM381.75 million for additional spectrum
The allocations cover four years in the 2600MHz band and five years in the 900MHz band, with the company expecting capacity and coverage gains.

CelcomDigi Bhd has paid RM381.75 million for additional spectrum in two frequency bands, which the telecommunications company said would support greater network capacity and broader coverage in Malaysia.
The award allocates 2x20MHz of spectrum in the 2600MHz band for a four-year period, alongside 2x5MHz in the 900MHz band for five years. CelcomDigi said the allocation would bring its contiguous holding in the 2600MHz band to 2x40MHz.
The company expects the spectrum to make capital expenditure more efficient and improve service quality as customer demand grows. It said the 900MHz allocation would support wider and deeper coverage nationwide.
Subsidiary CelcomDigi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (CDTel) paid the amount in full after agreeing to the award terms set by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). The award notice came after an Application Information Package was issued on 14 August.
CelcomDigi's shares finished at RM2.57, up six sen or 2.39 per cent. Its market capitalisation stood at RM30.15 billion.
