ACondor explains what happens to open option trades when a bot or broker API goes offline: positions stay at the broker, defined risk trades keep their maximum loss, and nothing runs until the software returns. Software, not investment advice. Options trading involves risk of loss.

Las Cruces, United States, October 1, 2026 /NewsNetwork/ -- Traders who automate an options strategy eventually ask the uncomfortable question: what happens to the open trades if the bot crashes, the server reboots, or the broker's API stops answering? Searches for broker API downtime and trading bot broker outage turn up guides written for forex and futures prop firms, plus a few broker incident reports. Almost nothing addresses an options premium seller running iron condors through software. ACondor LLC, which builds automation for options strategies on tastytrade accounts, is publishing a plain answer.
The Positions Live at the Broker, Not in the Bot
An automated options platform does not hold positions. The broker does. Every iron condor, credit spread, or strangle that ACondor opens is a set of real option contracts sitting in the trader's tastytrade account, visible in the broker's own app, and exactly as real whether the software is running or not. When the bot goes offline, nothing about those contracts changes. They are not closed, cancelled, or liquidated. Nothing is sold and nothing new is bought.
The same holds if a trader revokes ACondor's access at the broker. As the ACondor security page states, revoking access stops new activity, but it does not close positions that are already open. Anything the software already placed remains the trader's position and the trader's responsibility.
What Stops When the Software Stops
Honesty matters more than comfort here. While ACondor is offline, none of its rules run. There is no exit at the target credit, no defensive roll when a short strike is tested, no halt on a news event, and no daily loss check. The position is unmanaged for the length of the outage. A bot that claims it can protect a position while it is not running is describing something that cannot exist.
What limits the damage during that window is the structure of the trade itself. ACondor's engines trade defined risk structures such as iron condors, where the maximum loss is fixed by the width of the wings at the moment the trade is opened. That limit is a property of the position, not of any software watching it. An outage cannot widen it. It can only leave the trade to reach whatever the market decides within that boundary.
Broker Outages Versus Bot Outages
The two failures look different from the inside. When the bot process is down, the broker keeps working, and the trader can still manage or close any position by hand from the tastytrade app. When the broker's API is down, the bot is still running but cannot see prices, positions, or order status. ACondor treats missing data as missing, never as a signal. It does not fabricate a price, guess a fill, or close a position on a number it cannot verify. Quotes are validated before position values are displayed or acted on, and during one live market data feed interruption the platform fell back to the broker's own marks and kept every open leg priced.
Coming Back Online: Reconciliation
The first thing ACondor does when it reconnects is reconcile. It reads the broker's positions and matches every open trade it knows about against what the account actually holds. Its own orders carry a client tag, so bot positions are never confused with trades the account owner placed by hand.
If a position was closed manually during the outage, ACondor reads the broker's transaction history, matches the exact contracts, and books the real fill prices and the real commission, regulatory, and clearing fees. Nothing is estimated. If the history cannot account for every leg in full, the platform books nothing and holds the position for human review instead of guessing. A push notification reports what was recorded.
One deliberate design choice: the trading loop restarts in whatever state it was last left. A bot that was stopped on purpose stays stopped after a restart until the owner starts it again.
What a Trader Can Do Before It Happens
The broker app on a phone is the backup control plane. Revoking the OAuth application at tastytrade cuts the software off in seconds and holds even if the software is malfunctioning. Knowing the maximum loss on each open position before an outage removes most of the fear from one. And trading only defined risk structures when the trader cannot watch the screen turns a software failure into an inconvenience rather than a crisis.
Important Risk Information
ACondor is a software tool for automating options strategies. It does not provide investment, tax, or financial advice. Options trading involves substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for every investor. No software, rule set, or defined risk structure can guarantee any outcome, and defined risk does not eliminate the possibility of losing the full amount at risk. Traders should consult a licensed financial professional before trading options.

In global logistics, the problem is rarely a shortage of new technology. Ports, shipping lines, freight forwarders and warehouse operators are constantly pitched tools promising to predict delays, automate yards, optimise routes or cut emissions. The harder question is whether those tools can work inside real trade networks, where a single container journey may involve […] The post PSA, Granite Asia launch US$50M fund to scale supply-chain innovation appeared first on e27.
A good product can open the door to a market, but it does not guarantee business success.
